i'm not so into the whole alaia finless thing, but you gotta admit that this thing is pretty damn cool.  and- after watching that footage that recently surfaced online of him riding huge j-bay on one of these and just ripping the place way over, it's really opened my eyes to other horizons.  what really surprised me was the non-chalance with which he was blindly carving, sliding, slipping all over those huge walls.  as if he were riding a 3 foot wave.  so intimate..

the human dimension.

sometimes it feels like we each have many skins.  shells that we put on or take off.  discard.  reuse.  hide beneath.  wrap ourselves up in.  each offering some amount of comfort or reason at different times.  for a long time i fought with myself over these feelings and longed for a merging of selves.  hoping that some sort of consolidation of perspectives might give inner peace or resolution...lately though i've come to accept the variability of being, and with it a kind of numbing sensation with regards to my responses and interactions.  i used to describe the feeling to myself as if 'careening through life'.

super stoked.  javier's new glassing setup at united glassing seems good.  sand finish, but pretty glossy end of it.  really like how the plywood keels worked out.  might have toed them in a bit too much...we'll see.  happy birthday rafael!!  (wnen can i sample yo stick?)
