the reality behind the proverbial architectural shot:
i was somewhat amazed upon visiting ronchamp years ago to find a foot worn trail circumnavigating the structure with built up viewing mounds at all of the key photographable angles. you essentially wait in line to step up and snap the same shot that thousands of others before you had taken. same exact spot, same angle, essentially standing in someone elses footprints. these photos of las arboledas that russell and i found this afternoon exposed some of the truth behind something that had always appeared a placid temple in photos. despite what barragan may have thought, the local children actually using the tanque to swim in and then getting busted by the man actually made it so much more priceless.
