Beach at Barely's
I remember driving home after getting skunked several times and the sun out on these little bends of beach paralleling Kam Hwy would always look so inviting. The water was always so clear and the sand so white. It was just next to the road, but dropping down to the sand and the few Lauhala trees overhanging always gave this secluded feeling like you were transported back in time the minute you stepped off of the pavement. I would just swim out and float and look back on the koolau's and just dream. Kualoa, Hauula, Laie, Kahuku. Growing up on the east side sometimes seemed slower and somewhat removed, but looking back I really value that upbringing and the still latent memories it burned in my mind.
