worth

this image is one i'll always remember of the tsunami waves hitting the japanese coastline.  the cresting sets stacking to the horizon.  the scale, the helplessness against the magnitude of destruction.  things like this only confirm how miniscule our entire existence really is in light of larger things.  how fragile our 'worth' is in the face of the middle of the situation into which we've put ourselves.  we've managed to find ways to wake the beast, but somehow are surprised by the brutal consequences of our activities.  i'm not exactly equating plate tectonics to global warming, but apart from the number of innocent lives lost in this Japanese Tsunami, we are consciously dooming millions of others to as unfair a fate by our other selfish endeavors.  i do, however, equate the severity of the repercussion ten fold.

i came across these other two images of a barbosa+guimaraes project that confirmed for me that what i had wanted to do was indeed possible, contrary to what the contractors whined about..

evoque

two images swiped from yesterday's surfline article on the first contest at burleigh heads back in the 70's.
cheyne horan on top with a pretty burly carve being on a single fin.  think this was before the whole star fin episode.  such a critical transition of momentum fitting perfectly into the arc of this pocket.  there are a few stellar moments like this made throughout time whose photographs will always remain burned into our retinas.  another i can think of is a similar moment and position by tom curren at backdoor in the mid 80's.
the lower image during the same contest, eventually won by michael petersen, just brought back so many memories of backlit green-blue barrels i'd seen growing up.  in town, yokohama, secrets...
funny how thought evoking these two photos were to me.

“Magic never ends; it just waits to happen again”.

- an interesting thought borrowed from magicquiver.

The shadows don't lie

Weak first attempt at a depressed wing. Much harder than I initially
thought trying to merge two geometries. This could take some time...
