worth

this image is one i'll always remember of the tsunami waves hitting the japanese coastline.  the cresting sets stacking to the horizon.  the scale, the helplessness against the magnitude of destruction.  things like this only confirm how miniscule our entire existence really is in light of larger things.  how fragile our 'worth' is in the face of the middle of the situation into which we've put ourselves.  we've managed to find ways to wake the beast, but somehow are surprised by the brutal consequences of our activities.  i'm not exactly equating plate tectonics to global warming, but apart from the number of innocent lives lost in this Japanese Tsunami, we are consciously dooming millions of others to as unfair a fate by our other selfish endeavors.  i do, however, equate the severity of the repercussion ten fold.

  1. Wow, that's huge. I had not seen this shot. Well put, Brad. Yeah, this event, and then seeing what happened with the nuclear disaster, I think it showed how fragile our existence as a whole is. -Jeremy
